Fire Survivor Rebuild Checklist
This checklist was developed to help homeowners navigate the complex process of rebuilding after the fires with greater clarity, financial protection, and confidence. The checklist incorporates input from experienced rebuild professionals and community partners, including Hope Crisis Response Network, and reflects lessons we are seeing firsthand across active rebuild projects.

This two-page tool is designed to:

• Help survivors ask the right questions before signing contracts

• Surface hidden or commonly overlooked costs

• Protect families from avoidable financial exposure

• Promote safer, code-compliant rebuilding

• Reduce the risk of mid-project funding gaps

Access the checklist here.

Up to $20,000 in mortgage relief – free grants!

Many of us are now reaching the end of our 1-year mortgage forbearance, and the squeeze is real. Amazingly, the CalAssist Mortgage Fund still has grant money available — up to $20,000 per household — and they’ve raised their income limits so thousands more fire-impacted homeowners can now qualify. The program covers up to 3 months of mortgage payments, capped at $20,000, paid directly to your servicer, and it never has to be repaid. The new income limit is generous: household income can be up to $211,050 in L.A. County. Learn more at the CalAssist Mortgage Fund website here.

Habitat LA Grants Up to $10,000
Our close partners at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles have launched the Accelerator Fund. Over 200 grants are available RIGHT NOW, first-come, first-served! Each grant provides up to $10K. This is not a loan. It’s direct grant support for costs like insurance deductibles, smoke or soil remediation, contractor deposits, permitting fees, tree removal, and more.

Who qualifies? Homeowners with household income at or below 120% of Area Median Income (examples: $127,200 for a single person, $180,800 for a family of four). Funds are paid directly to your vendors or contractors, helping you take the next step forward.
